3D Lightning Storm

Tap the scene for lightning and rain. Flashing lightning in the sky reflects off the water.
The background scene was modeled with 3ds Max, then rendered to cubic maps. The maps were applied to the inside of cube with WebGL, for fast download time with just eight vertices.
The texture map includes levels of alpha transparency. A GLSL shader modifies colors behind the transparent areas, providing a storm effect.
3D Environments
All scenes by Seven Thunder Software load with efficient 3D rendering software. Save download time with basic shaders and one texture graphic.
Skybox Waste
Avoid skyboxes, multiple image files, and separate shaders.
For example, common skybox programming uses uniform
samplerCube
with method
textureCube()
to display six images at a time.
Additionally textureCube()
requires program changes
during rendering.
Efficient Backgrounds
The cubic and spherical scenes, I've implemented, require just one program and one image for speedy display time.
